Art Journaling with Collage Sheets

I used my computer to create some designs with repeating basic shapes that slightly overlap.  It was relaxing and fun to experiment…some shapes worked better than others to get a look that was pleasing (to my eye at least).  Once I was happy with the overall look of several designs, I printed them out in several sizes to add to my stash.  For this 2-page spread, I chose the circle design in a couple of sizes, colored in some of the areas with Copic markers, and then cut them out and used them as collage elements.

I have been playing around with making videos and stumbled across a neat little phone app that takes your photos and videos and makes a snazzy video for you.  And while I ultimately decided to purchase a different app, the free version of this app was fun to play with and gave me some ideas for how I might create videos from scratch.  If you haven’t played with it yet, you might want to give it a try.  You can find the little video I made of this 2-page journal spread here:

Here are some other ideas for using these types of collage elements:
·        Print or trace designs onto cardstock and cut out negative space to create stencils for use with your Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate or with sprays right in your art journal.
·        Doodle on the collage sheets (i.e. “Zentangle” style).
·        Use them as borders behind other collage elements.
·        Experiment with creating an image transfer with gel medium, packing tape, etc.  You can find a link to a video I made recently on how to do an image transfer with Collage Pauge here:

To download/print, try clicking on the collage sheet to open it up and right clicking on it to save it to your desktop.  You can then right click on the icon or your desktop to send to the printer.  The collage sheets should print as either an 8x10 or full page “photo” on paper of your choice.  If you use them, please keep to your personal use (do not reproduce or sell in whole or in part), and please give any credit if credit is due.  Enjoy!
