Felicia's Rules for Art and Art Journaling

Here are Felicia's Rules for Art and Art Journaling...

The very best place to start is…WHEREVER YOU ARE.
The very best stuff to use is…WHATEVER YOU ALREADY HAVE.
The very best way to do it is…HOWEVER YOU WANT TO.

THERE. ARE. NO. RULES.

I've been playing with using colored pencils and water-soluble wax pastels over heavily layered  backgrounds.  This background is fairly simple for me, just Dylusions sprays.  I love the pop of color and this just glows in person.

  1. You art has this really interesting style. :) It's very calm and serene in some way, but yet it's filled with colors and joy. =)

  2. I really like this. What brand of wax pastels?

  3. Thank you both for your kind words. On this piece I used PrismaColor Pencils to get the basic shape/shading laid down and then went over the whole thing with Caran d'Ache Neocolor II wax pastels. They blend quite easily with just your fingertips.

  5. I think I have "There are no rules" tattoo-ed on the inside of my skull forever thanks to you ;) And that is a very good thing! Love the colours, Felicia!

  6. Thank you both. @Rachael, I believe with every fiber of my being that we shouldn't just think outside the box, we should understand that THERE IS NO BOX.

I think "There are no rules" should be the title of my auto-biography, airbrushed onto the side of my motorcycle helmut (when I'm like 80 year's old), and added to my tombstone. ;->
